How To Save Water Damaged Phones or Other Electronic Devices
Mobile phones are now carrying huge amount of people’s private data; once the mobile phone is dropped into water, all data are in danger.
For any electronic device, once it is water damaged: the first and most important step is–turn OFF the device and disconnect the battery if possible. NEVER charge the device or try to turn the device on before repair/service. Because once there is water inside the device, any power applied to the device will further damage it.
Then try to dry the device and get any possible water out of the device.
See us ASAP, because when electronic devices are just water damaged we have 90% opportunity to recover the device by cleaning all parts in ultrasonic washing machine; after 2-3 day, the changes becomes 80%, after 2-3 weeks, 60%… and keep dropping.
The worse case scenario is sea water which contains lots of salt and minerals that could short circuit mother board and kill the device very very quickly, I mean, a few minutes. In this case, turn OFF the device, and flush it using fresh water, which will clean the device and remove most of salts and minerals. Fresh water is no good to electronic devices but far way better than sea water in this case.
A very frequently used by useless method is: put the device into rice. What rice can do? It only absorbs little amount of moisture.
So remember, timing is everything once your device is water damaged: turn OFF, dry it and see us.
